De La Soul - 3 Feet High and Rising (2LP)

Double vinyl LP pressing on 180g colored vinyl, from the 2023 reissue that brought De La Soul's catalog back to stores and streaming. 3 Feet High and Rising is the trio's 1989 debut and the first of three albums with producer Prince Paul. It includes "Me Myself and I", "The Magic Number", "Buddy" and "Eye Know", and samples everyone from Hall & Oates and Steely Dan to The Turtles. It topped the Village Voice Pazz & Jop critics poll for 1989 and sits on Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time. Its playful, positive style set the template for 1990s alternative and jazz rap.
