Recorded in November 1993 and released a year later, MTV Unplugged in New York was Nirvana's last album and one of their most cohesive. Instead of the trio's overpowering force, it puts Kurt Cobain's subtly shaded songwriting up front, alongside covers of David Bowie, the Meat Puppets, the Vaselines and a wrenching closing take on Lead Belly's "Where Did You Sleep Last Night."
