A Better Version of Me is Rainer Maria's third album, first released on Polyvinyl in January 2001. The Madison, Wisconsin trio of Caithlin De Marrais, Kaia Fischer and William Kuehn recorded it with producer Mark Haines, with De Marrais stepping up as the main lyricist. It opens with "Artificial Light" and remains one of the defining records of early-2000s Midwest emo. Polyvinyl is reissuing it for its 25th anniversary on half green, half yellow vinyl.
