Twisted Teens, Caspian Halliwell and RJ Santos, didn't really exist before their 2024 debut LP, now known as The Orange Album. The pair had been making music from Cajun and country to anarcho-folk under the radar, living and working itinerantly, until a pandemic-era burst of inspiration had them recording, in suitably lo-fi fashion, at Caspian's New Orleans home. That first album became a modern classic of sticky, warm rock, bunching blues, folk and punk into one raw concoction. They came back strong in 2026 with Blame the Clown, cosigned by Pitchfork and Paste, and then Florida Water Blues, an absurdist take on their wanderings around the world.

The Holy Cross Tigers is their third album of 2026 and their first for Sub Pop: a saga of heartbreak and hidden triumph. The songs are anthems of longing, fueled by everything from a brutal breakup to snitching ex-friends, but the record has a radiance to it, reflected light pushing against the sadness. It feels like a few friends sharing the burdens of life with one another. This is the Loser Edition, Sub Pop's indie-shop first pressing on maroon vinyl.
