Allah-Las - Zuma 85 (CD)

For 15 years, Allah-Las have melded surf rock wash with folk rock jangle, building their music podcast Reverberation Radio and their label Calico Discos along the way. A lot has changed since Matthew Correia (drums, vocals), Spencer Dunham (bass, guitar, vocals), Miles Michaud (guitar, organ, vocals) and Pedrum Siadatian (guitar, synth, vocals) first bonded over psych rock records in the back room at Amoeba Music in the late 2000s. Zuma 85 (2023) starts a new era for the LA band, reinventing their sound in defiance of algorithmic categorization and robotic sterility. It's a return, too: released on Calico Discos with Innovative Leisure, home of their early records Allah-Las (2012) and Worship the Sun (2014).
